God is all there is

God is all there is. God is the Universe, God is you and me and everyone and everything else. The rest is only an illusion. What's more, these illusions are of our own creation!!

We, the pieces of God that we are, created these illusions, so that we may 'experience' WHO WE ARE!

God needs nothing. What could God possibly need? Except perhaps the ability to experience itself. I mean if all you know is Love, never actually experienced anything of an opposing nature, how could you even know that you are Love? It's a bit like, if everyone on earth was precisely 6 foot tall, short or tall would have no meaning for us, as we have never 'experienced' the phenomenon. If you have never seen or smelled a rose, the word rose would have no meaning for you whatsoever. See what I am getting at?

God needs nothing. So, the first thing we invented was the Illusion of Need. Although we, as 'pieces' of God, had no need of anything, we could literally not experience ourselves unless we invented need! Need is the first and biggest Illusion. All the other Illusions stem from this one. I won't go into how, it is not necessary for this discussion. If you wish to explore this further, read the book "Communion with God". It has three parts:

The Ten Illusions of Humans,
Mastering the Illusions and
Meeting the Creator Within.

Magic stuff. Another way to describe the illusions is below:

GOD HAS AN AGENDA = NEED EXISTS
THE OUTCOME OF LIFE IS IN DOUBT. = FAILURE EXISTS
WE ARE SEPARATE FROM GOD = DISUNITY EXISTS
THERE IS NOT ENOUGH = INSUFFICIENCY EXISTS
THERE IS SOMETHING YOU HAVE TO DO = REQUIREMENT EXISTS
IF YOU DON'T, YOU WILL BE PUNISHED = JUDGEMENT EXISTS
THE PUNISHMENT IS EVERLASTING DAMNATION = CONDEMNATION EXISTS
LOVE IS, THEREFORE, CONDITIONAL = CONDITIONALITY EXISTS
KNOWING AND MEETING THE CONDITIONS RENDERS YOU SUPERIOR = SUPERIORITY EXISTS
YOU DON'T KNOW THESE ARE ILLUSIONS = IGNORANCE EXISTS

What's in those boxes below is our Cultural Story. A Cultural story is a story that has been handed down from generation to generation, across centuries and millennia. It is the Story that we tell ourself about ourselves. It is just that - a Story - an Illusion.

We can expand upon these Illusions and cultural Myths and indeed have created the following Illusionary concepts:

Thy will be done.
Survival of the fittest
To the victor go the spoils.
We were born in Original Sin.
The wages of sin are death.
Vengeance is Mine, sayeth the Lord.
What you don't know won't hurt you.
God only knows

...and many others, equally destructive.

One way to start to overcome these illusions is to go back to basics: God is all there is! In fact in the book, 'He' says:

"God is All That Is, All That Was and All That Will Ever Be. There is nothing that is not God." If God needed something to produce a result, where would God get it? There is nothing that exists outside of God. So what could God possibly need? By the same token, as we are the same, what could we need? Put another way: God is God and God is All That Is. Since we are a part of All That Is, God is what we are. There is not a part of us that God is not.

And if All That Is is always with us, then we need nothing - and that is the truth of our being. When we deeply understand this, we will live in our body in an entirely different way. We will become fearless - you'll remember me talking about this often - and as God said:

"...fearlessness produces it's own blessing, for lack of fear creates lack of anything to be afraid of."

We on the other hand, not only imagined a God with needs, we even imagined a God who can fail to have His needs met! Yet God's response to our ten Illusions is clear-cut and blunt:

THE TEN ILLUSIONS: GOD'S RESPONSE TO THE TEN ILLUSIONS:
GOD HAS AN AGENDA GOD NEEDS NOTHING.
THE OUTCOME OF LIFE IS IN DOUBT GOD CANNOT FAIL and NEITHER CAN YOU.
WE ARE SEPARATE FROM GOD NOTHING IS SEPARATE FROM ANYTHING.
THERE IS NOT ENOUGH THERE IS ENOUGH.
THERE IS SOMETHING YOU HAVE TO DO THERE IS NOTHING YOU HAVE TO DO.
IF YOU DON'T, YOU WILL BE PUNISHED YOU WILL NEVER BE JUDGED.
THE PUNISHMENT IS EVERLASTING DAMNATION YOU WILL NEVER BE CONDEMNED.
LOVE IS, THEREFORE, CONDITIONAL LOVE KNOWS NO CONDITIONS.
KNOWING AND MEETING THE CONDITIONS RENDERS YOU SUPERIOR A THING CANNOT BE SUPERIOR TO ITSELF.
YOU DON'T KNOW THESE ARE ILLUSIONS YOU ALREADY KNOW ALL OF THIS.

God, what can you say to that? How do you follow that? But wait! Number two says that I cannot fail! I can write and say anything and it's going to be OK! [Only joking]!

All right - now how do we put this information into practice in our lives. In particular, how do we use this information to heal ourselves??

We know that fear is a factor. OK, slowly, we start to give in to fear less and less. It may be a slow process. We may even backslide a lot. If so, then it is very important that we do not give in to despair and fall back into old habits - you know, like 'I am just no good' type of bad habits.

We must remember that we re-create ourselves anew. In fact God says at one stage of the book, "I would draw no conclusions about Who You Are. It is in fact impossible to draw conclusions about Who You Are because in your creation of yourself you are never concluded. You are a work in progress. You are not finished creating you - and you never will be.

You are never who you were in the last moment. And I never see you as that but rather, as Who You now choose to be."

'He' was talking about judgement in this instance. In fact, just before this, He said that "Judgement sears the soul, for it brands the spirit with an Illusion of who you are, ignoring the deeper reality."

Let's explore another way of looking at this. An anorexic person - already stick thin - looks into the mirror and sees a fat person. Is what she is seeing real or is it an Illusion? Who created this Illusion? We know that the person looking into the mirror created the Illusion.

So we say 'that person has an illness'. No, that person is merely suffering from a self-created Illusion. The question I have is, how are we any different to that person suffering from anorexia? Do we, when we look into the mirror see anything else apart from the very Illusion we have created about ourselves? We all know the answer don't we? We all see ourselves exactly as we have created ourselves, according to our Illusions. That is the very concept that we need to understand fully and practice to overcome, to change, to re-create! To be able to look into the mirror and see ourselves perfect. To see ourselves healed. Even to see ourselves as the people that love us - see us! They don't see us as we see ourselves!

You do see some examples of this in practice, walking among us. When you see an overweight person behaving in a perfectly relaxed, happy manner - all the time, you can see that they are not unhappy with themselves. Although I have been trying not bring gender into this conversation, how about the Illusion of what is 'normal' or beautiful, what is the acceptable standard. You know the 'norm' I mean - all women should be tall, size 10, thin and busty. That is simply the Illusion heaped upon us by advertisers trying to sell their products. We fell for it because we had the Illusion of Need. The Need to conform. Every now and then, you see a woman that is thin, flat, yet walks erect, seemingly proud and un-self-conscious in any way - she has no Illusions about everyone else's expectations, has no desire to live up to some Illusionary 'norm' that society has foisted on us.

Now at a certain level, we can easily acknowledge that the fashion Illusion and the anorexia Illusion is an Illusion.

We now have to extend this to embrace all our Illusions. Including the Illusion of illness!
